influenSPHERE vs. Sphere of Influence! Do you know the Difference?

influenSPHERE : n. [in-floo-uhn sfeer] the specific part of your network with which you are actively involved, currently and ongoing.

Your influenSPHERE is that specific part of your network with which you are actively involved, currently and ongoing. Because businesses are built on relationships, success in business has less to do with the size of one’s sphere of influence than the depth of their influence within that sphere. That depth is developed over a period of time through real relationships with people they come in contact with.

Sphere of influence” was originally used as a geo-political term to refer to a territorial area over which political or economic influence is wielded by one nation. In the business world, it has come to mean the extent of one’s network, direct and indirect, within which one can produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of another or others.

Narrowing this idea into a focused networking concept, I came up with the term influenSPHERE! It is not about the number of Twitter followers or Facebook Friends that one has. It comes down to the amount of meaningful contact that you have within that group. Like using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight in order to start a fire, focusing on the relationship building activities within your sphere of influence, you can create a fire in your business! Light up your world!
