Speaking of Influence

Tonight, I went to the Sacramento Speakers Network Meetup at the Doubletree Hotel. It was only me second meeting but I am certain that tonight sealed the deal for regular attendance on my part.

Founded in 2006 by Stephanie Chandler of Authority Publishing, the Sacramento Speakers Network meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Here is a bit more about the group.

The Sacramento Speakers Network is a great place for authors, experts, trainers, entrepreneurs, business professionals and professional speakers to network, share resources and exchange ideas. Whether you are an experienced speaker or you’re just getting started, we invite you to join us for a meeting unlike any other you have attended before.

The Sacramento Speakers Network is focused on the business of speaking. The majority of our members are business professionals and therefore we all benefit by sharing resources, discussing strategies for generating more business and speaking engagements, networking and building relationships within the group–all while learning advanced business skills.

Please also note that we are NOT a Toastmasters group. We are listed under Toastmasters because that was the only Meetup topic that was closely related to professional speaking. Members of Toastmasters, however, are welcome to join us!

If you represent an organization or group that is in need of a speaker, please browse our member list. You can also contact Stephanie Chandler for assistance.

There is no cost to join us online and meeting fees are $10. We hope you will join us for one of our lively and informative meetings!

The audience of 60 or so was amazed with the guest speaker, Patrick Schwerdtfeger. He dazzled us with Social Media tips to grow our businesses. I was furiously taking notes and finally turned on the voice recorder on my phone so that I wouldn’t miss a word. I bought his book “Marketing Shortcuts for the Self-Employed”, and am loving it. It is NOT a fast read although each chapter is only a couple of pages long. That is because he lays out each chapter with homework to help you implement the information he is sharing! While it is tempting to just read through it, I know that I will reap many rewards with immediate action. I have been guilty of imbibing large amounts of information, even very valuable information, and then not following through with implementation.

For more information on Patrick, tune in to Jerry Kennedy‘s Blog Whisperer show on BlogTalkRadio on June 11, 2011 at 9 a.m. at www.blogtalkradio.com/blogwhisperer. Incidentally, Jerry commented to me at the Meeting on Wednesday that he owed much of his success either directly or indirectly to the Sacramento Speakers Network. That is a powerful recommendation! Jerry is the man to see if you need someone who is an expert at “Helping you quiet the voices in your head so that you can blog with the voice of your soul…”

I sent a card to each of these three amazing influencers!

Stay tuned: 19 days to go!

Day: 81

Stamps:164
