Farewell to Pedro!
Today’s Stamp is a farewell and Bon Voyage to my brother-in-law Pedro. He is returning to Mexico after living here in California for about 10 years. We have been so blessed to have had him close to us, especially for my husband, who has no other immediate
family close, although there are a few cousins in the area.
Pedro has 3 children in Mexico City, a son and two daughters. He also has two grandchildren. I think it must be very difficult to live in a foreign country without your kids and grandkids. Pedro will be returning to Queretaro, Qro., about 2 hours north of Mexico City, and staying with his mom to help her for a while. He is hoping to join his brother-in-law Jose Luis driving the family taxi cab.
Pedro is an amazingly generous and jovial person and we have really enjoyed seeing him on his bi-weekly stays at our house. But I do believe that he has Mariachi’s already waiting for him at the Mexico City International Airport because his children and grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters are so anxious to see him. Our loss is their gain, and it is bittersweet to see him go. I am sad for my husband, I am sad for my girls, I am sad for our family, but I am so happy that he will return to his roots and his dear ones.

Pedro (in red) with Fernando (to his right) and other family playing poker, a favorite family pasttime.
Querido Pedro,
Buen Viaje y Buena Suerte. Te vamos a extranar. Que Dios te bendiga!
Con Mucho Amor,
Fernando, Michele, Montserrat and Susana

Lupe,
I cannot thank you enough for your comments here. A true testimony to the influence Pedro has had on you, and I am certain that the feeling is mutual. The truth is that he is needed now in Mexico with his family, but he will be missed as much as the memories will be cherished. Thank you for being a great friend to him while he was here. Luckily technology makes it much easier to keep in touch. I am sure that he would love to hear from you! If there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Michele
